It has been estimated that the total production of oil from a certain oil well is given by
T(t) = -1000(t + 11)e^(-0.1t) + 11000
thousands of barrels t yr after production has begun. Determine the year when the oil well will be producing at maximum capacity.
How many years after production has begun.
I have been trying to find the derivative but I think it keeps coming out wrong.
dT/dt = -1000e^(-0.1t) + 100(t + 11)e^(-0.1t)
I expect you know that you want dT/dt = 0 but this seems to give a negative number of years. I think that you need to check the original function.
McCain’s offshore drilling flip from three weeks ago:

All Americans want to reduce our dependency of foreign oil. We have a choice of investing primarily in green technology and increasing fuel efficiency standards or increasing domestic oil production.
According to Bush/McCain and the US Energy Info Admin (EIA), expanding offshore drilling beyond the 68 million acres already leased and available will have NO significant impact on domestic crude oil and natural gas production or prices before 2030.
According to the Sierra Club, expanding offshore drilling will present a substantial cost to the environment.
It will distract us from investment in green technology and increasing fuel efficiency standards for cars whose benefits are immediate. longterm and expanding.
It will cost us millions of green jobs and a robust and competitive auto industry.
What are the benefits of popular offshore drilling?
The benefit would be that the Oil Mafia would be able to continue making profits for another 20 years. Outside of that I really can’t think of a single long term positive outcome. Back in the 1860s the US government could have given wagon road builders every other square mile of public land on either side of their road from St. Louis to California. The wagon and road industry woud have been dancing in the streets. Instead the federal government decided to give the railroad industry every other square mile of federal land on either side of the right-of-way. The result was a ‘modern’ railway system rather than obsolete wagon industry. While no analogy is perfect, my take on this is that if we encourage the offshore oil drillers we’ll land up with an obsolete oil industry. On the other hand if we encourage 21st century technology to keep the wheels on the road in the end we’ll have a far better and far more ‘modern’ energy system. Someone has to make this choice right now….old man McCain and the ‘conservatives’ want to continue to encourage an ‘oil only’ energy policy….(the wagon road decision). Obama wants to move forward with new technology…the railroad decision). I like Obama’s plan better…..no kiddin’!
i think the opec will cuts the oil production
Would you changed your oil consumption habits?

And yes, many sources say the contrary but those are political tools mastering illusions to avoid market collaspe or irrational frenzy… Look like now the Iraq thing is really for oil…
Well, I may lose credibility but I do have much less credibility to lose than the Nobel prize by nominating Gore…
In any cases, read the report instead of killing the messenger… How typical of uneducated peoples…
And yes, we will miss much more plastics than car oil… But the thing is plastic can be done from scratch now, just need organic waste, but of course it cost much more to produce, yet we still have coal for over 200 years… Lets see whats next…
Heck no. If you are at a party, and you know the beer will run out do you A, slow down the drinking, or B drink faster so that you can get drunk…
Is there a way to completely stop it with home remedies without moisturizing my face a lot like by covering my face with tissues or something?! Everytime I finish washing my face all the oil keeps on coming out visibly from my pores in less than an hour!!! It’s driving me hectic!!! argh!!!
you need to use a toner
or i use Clinique
and they have some stuff to close your pores which will stop the oil from coming out. i use Clinique pore minimizer t-zone shine control
and it gives you a mattified look and in time closes your pores. toners do that too though and other stuff,,
use oil blotting sheets
only as long as russia remains in control of there assets.
they have opend up new contracts for oil companies some were booted out also due to there demands, but there are vast fields there of oil and natural gas,and they do sell to china japan the us and europe, they are simply at the mostly max ability at the moment due to aging stations and abilities to transort it,new pipelines are going up and new routes opening due to ice melt and exposing even more fields,so global warming has its good sides also, doesnt it
What will Wallmart do without US plastic.
Moe, Larry the Cheese!!!!!
Did natural gas form underground the same way oil did, from billion year old plants?
Is natural gas production reaching a peak? If not, how much higher can it go?
Are land-based wells at a limit? Are off-shore sources unusually productive or are they a secondary source that only makes economic sense when land-based wells at near their limits?
Most geologists believe that natural gas was formed thousands of years ago when plants and animals died and their decomposed remains were deposited with mud and silt. With time they were covered by sediments and were compressed by the weight of the sedimentary layers. As a result of intense heat and pressure the organic materials were transformed into natural gas and oil. Some scientists believe that deep gas pockets were formed during the creation of the Earth.
Natural gas is found trapped in impermeable layers of rock in different underground formations such as: shale formations, coal seams, sandstone beds, and deep, salt-water aquifers.
On Tuesday Russian delegation of 20 top oil industry officials (largest in 20 years) joined OPEC meeting in Vienna and discussed cooperation in reducing oil production. The consensus is that in view of recent escalation of tensions between Russia and the West, Russia seeks to tighten its energy grip on Western Europe.
The OPEC meeting agreed to reduce oil production by 500,000 barrels a day (about 1% reduction).
Russian exports of oil are 15% of world total, second to Saudi Arabia. Combined exports of Russia and OPEC add up to 55% of world total.
ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS have left us cornered!
and creating jobs HERE at home?!

Over the past 30 years:
Democrats have blocked the development of new sources of petroleum.
Democrats have blocked drilling in ANWR.
Democrats have blocked drilling off the coast of Florida.
Democrats have blocked drilling off of the east coast.

But, they’re funding projects in Brazil?!
