Alberta is a province in Western Canada. The Rocky Mountains cross the territory, which has a number of national parks. But it is also home to an industry which is starting to exploit huge mineral deposits…the oil sands, Canada’s most important source of petroleum.
A third of the world’s oil sands are located here. But the mining of the substance is causing massive environmental destruction. And extracting crude oil from sand is very energy intensive. The emissions of CO2 are three times as high as with standard methods of oil extraction.
The oil sands industry is the largest single source of greenhouse gasses in Canada and the quantity of emissions is set to rise as the industry expands.
Because the thirst for oil is so great in the neighbouring US, Canada will hardly be able to meet its Kyoto protocol commitments.

3 questions, from the Global Financial Crisis ?
1- What was the effect of the global financial crisis on the consumer demand on goods and services?
2- How are production resources (oil prices, labour prices,) changed?
3- How did some governments react to this problem?
1. decresed consumer demand
2. decreased demand has decreased prices
3. some governments attempted to increase demand through government spending
http://localfuture.org
How long can this global oil supply level be maintained? When will the decline in oil supply begin? How will that impact already rising gasoline prices, oil prices, food prices and the struggling state of the world economy?
To address shrinking fossil fuel supplies, increasing CO2 emissions, and rising global inequity we need to make immediate and drastic cuts to our energy use. Learn about viable curtailment strategies for food, housing, and transportation, why most “sustainable” and “green” techniques are inadequate, and how we can create cooperative low-energy communities to survive.

The International Conference on Peak Oil and Climate Change: Paths to Sustainability explores the root cause of rising gas prices, global warming, biodiversity loss and other indicators of global unsustainability.

Here is a larger view on mankind’s continual progress on earth.
First will come one standard world language of English, with many words from other languages being added as expanded "English". Maybe in one hundred or less years.
Then one world race will be largely achieved; this mixed race will be superior to today’s nine somewhat blended races. Life expectancy will increase to several hundred years on average. Maybe in a few hundred more years.
Then one planetary government of all people, by all people, and for all people will be established and well functional. Maybe in one or two more thousand years.
Then one planetary and universe supernal philosophy and religion will happen in a few thousand to 50,000 (maximum) more years. Sooner if there is another Divine Visitation perceived by some or all.
Is the oil beginning to run out? Shot over 4 years in 13 countries this film uncovers the myths surrounding the future of world oil supplies. Filmmaker, Andrew Evans lifts the lid on the so called Peak Oil theory, whether oil production is about to fall. He travels to the Middle East to find out how much oil they really have, exposing evidence that they may be exaggerating by up to 50%.

Is not money we are running out of, it’s energy.
Banks can not print energy.
Once it takes you more than one unit of energy to produce goods and services to buy one unit of energy that’s it. You’ve run out of gas forever!
Although economists are trained to treat energy just like any other resource when it comes to “supply and demand”, it is manifestly not like any other resource. Net energy is the pre-condition for all other resources. The coming peak in global oil production signals the end of the consumer economy because nothing can replace conventional oil.
"Energy" is defined as the capacity of a physical system to do work. Over a hundred years ago, scientists pointed out that energy – not money – is the true source of the capitalist’s wealth
http://dieoff.org/page175.htm
Energy companies are in business to make money – not energy. For example, economic subsidies allow ethanol companies to waste energy while making a profit. Specifically, about 71% more energy is used to produce a gallon of ethanol than the energy contained in a gallon of ethanol.
From the standpoint of achieving society’s goal of a long-term solution to our energy problems, profit is simply the wrong objective for energy companies. Even without direct and indirect subsidies of $650 billion a year it’s conceivable that energy companies could make money – but lose energy – by burning one $10-barrel of oil today in order to pump one-half of a $50-barrel tomorrow. The price of oil is expected to rise sharply – and permanently – when global oil production peaks in less than ten years.Written in 1999.
I think the evidence shows we have already passed the world’s peak production of oil based energy. If it were not for the problem of global warming, we could switch to coal. Nuclear in any of its forms or Solar power satellites could produce sufficient energy to drive the consumer economy too until we reach the point we are releasing more energy into the earth’s system than it can radiate into space, again driving warming.Of course, we may have reached that point already also. Basically, the place is filling up…
