Gas companies measure production from wells in cubic feet. It sells on the market by BTU’s. How to convert?

Posted by admin on March 3rd, 2010 and filed under oil and gas production | 2 Comments »

From the well head – oil and gas companies report yield or production in cubic feet. But they sell it in BTU’s. How is it converted from one (cubic feet) to the other (BTU’s) and/or vice versa?

NATURAL GAS IS SOLD BY CUBIC FEET AT YOUR METER. NATURAL GAS IS A TERM WHICH ENCOMPASSES A VARIETY OF GASSES. THE INDIVIDUAL GAS THAT IS SUPPLIED TO YOU SHOULD SUPPLY A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF BTU’S PER CUBIC FOOT. SOME APPLIANCES WILL DISPLAY THEIR EFFICIENCY ACCORDING TO THE BTU/CF FORMULA.

your opinions please.
My own is that the present system is not improving and not moving fast enough w/ regards to alternative energy research (the $18 billion might be better spent on alternative energy tax break for everyone)….my own personal opinion is that any money given to oil companies is not guaranteed to be invested in oil/gas production or alternative power and is simply a political reward

You are correct.

In the oil and gas business, what unresolved image analysis problems could lead to a breakthrough?

Posted by admin on February 25th, 2010 and filed under oil and gas production | 1 Comment »

I am interested in issues directly related to the oil and gas exploration and production. Of course, the first task is to identify which problems need to be solved. I will be more than happy if I get specific answers about issues that affect the oil business and that are yet to be solved.

A major tool in exploration is images made from the reflections of sound waves from surface explosions. Analysis of these images is what helps explorers figure out the existence and location of oil and gas reserves. Any improvement in the image processing and pattern recognition would help reveal overlooked sources and deeper sources, and would reduce the waste of drilling to a false image.

On the production side, refining crude oil into its various products safely and efficiently is a set of extremely complex and sensitive chemical processes. Some really good visualization of these processes could help run an individual refinery smoothly, efficiently, and safely, and could also help reveal parts of the process which could be improved. The human brain has tremendous pattern recognition capability with data presented to it visually.

As an industry outsider, that’s all I know.

What has worse environmental effects. An oil/gas rig and its production? Or a Wind Turbine?

Posted by admin on February 23rd, 2010 and filed under oil and gas production | 7 Comments »

Rigs come and go… there are certainly environmental concerns involved.
Wind turbines and their foundations are permanent and there are environmental concerns involved.. Also.. what do they make wind turbines out of?
I asked the question for a reason…
Check out how big the foundations are.. The Earth can absolutly not "absorb" these.. Actually they are PERMENENT..taking TNT to take them out..
Thank you for the info on what the turbines are made of… Answer: metal for the tower… Plastic/resin molds for the blades. Yet another "Green" solution that depends on drilling.

check out this site it will answer your question

How fast will the pelosi/reid regime blame Bush for higher gas prices from their news oil company taxes?

Story link for all the Miami/Dade liberals who still cant understand…
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070805/ap_on_go_co/congress_energy

quote 1
Republican opponents said the legislation ignored the need to produce more domestic oil, natural gas and coal. One GOP lawmaker bemoaned "the pure venom … against the oil and gas industry."

Democrats avoided a nasty fight by ignoring — at least for the time being — calls for automakers to make vehicles more fuel-efficient. Cars, sport utility vehicles and small trucks use most of the country’s oil and produce almost one-third of the carbon dioxide emissions linked to global warming.

quote 2
Republicans said the House bill did nothing to increase domestic oil and natural gas production or take further advantage of coal, the country’s most abundant domestic energy resource.

once again this is the liberal agenda of the pelosi/reid regime run amuck. when you leave that much on the table to be thought out later how is this right?
hey ok…your so naive it would scare anyone who has a healthy concept of protecting this nation from out of control liberal extremists.

You did not know they already have Bush is to blame for every thing including how stupid the left is.

Here is a lost bit of Congress info.
they have done most of it already.1963 Communist Goals
The following was entered into the Congressional record by Albert Herlong, Jr. (a Floridian who served in Congress from 1949-69) in 1963.

1) US acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war
2) US willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war
3) Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the US would be a demonstration of "moral strength"
4) Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.
5) Extension of long term loans to Russia and Soviet Satellites
6) Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination
7) Grant recognition of Red China, and admission of Red China to the UN.
8) Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the Germany question by free elections under supervision of the UN
9) Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the US has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress
10) Allow all Soviet Satellites individual representation in the UN
11) Promote the UN as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the UN as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo)
12) Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party
13) Do away with loyalty oaths
14) Continue giving Russia access to the US Patent Office
15) Capture one or both of the political parties in the US
16) Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions, by claiming their activities violate civil rights.
17) Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for Socialism, and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. Put the party line in text books.
18) Gain control of all student newspapers
19) Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.
20) Infiltrate the press. Get control of book review assignments, editorial writing, policy-making positions.
21) Gain control of key positions in radio, TV & motion pictures.
22) Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all form of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings", substitute shapeless, awkward, and meaningless forms.
23) Control art critics and directors of art museums. " Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art".
24) Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.
25) Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography, and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and TV.
26) Present Homosexuality, degeneracy, and promiscuity as "normal, natural, and healthy".
27) Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch"
28) Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state"
29) Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.
30) Discredit the American founding fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man".
31) Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of "the big picture:" Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.
32) Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture – - education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.
33) Eliminate all laws or procedures, which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.
34) Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.
35) Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI
36) Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.
37) Infiltrate and gain control of big business
38) Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat.
39) Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.
40) Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
41) Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.
42) Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special interest groups should rise up and make a "united force" to solve economic, political, or social problems.
43) Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.
44) Internationalize the Panama Canal.
45) Repeal the Connally Reservation so the US can not prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.

Interested in getting into the Oil & Gas business ?? Here’s a genuine chance.?

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2010 and filed under oil and gas production | 1 Comment »

Hello,
I have over 27years direct experience in the oil and gas industry with over 17 of those years as owner and operator of a successful oil and gas exploration and production company in Oklahoma.
I got out of the oil and gas production business in 2000 (oil
@$21.00/ barrel). I am now poised and anxious to quickly
re-enter the oil and gas exploration & production industry as the prices are now in excess of $60.00/ barrel. My goal and
expectations are to create substantial monthly revenue streams as well as rapid asset accrual for both myself and an interested investor.
Towards a more rapid start-up of operations in the field, I would prefer to develop a ongoing relationship with an individual investor or an entity capable of swift movement and decision making capabilities.
Should you have an interest or questions, Lets talk.
Thanks,
Jerry

So, if you were a successful operator for 17 years why do you need outside capital?

Where would a oil producer for 27 years find an Investor to re-enter the Oil & Gas business??

Hello,

I have over 27years direct and successful experience in the oil and gas industry with over 17 of those years as owner and operator of a successful oil and gas exploration and production company in Oklahoma.

I got out of the oil and gas production business in 2000 (oil prices were around $21.00 per barrel at that time) and since that time have performed oil & gas consulting work for long time friends and associates in the business. I am now poised and anxious to quickly re-enter the oil and gas exploration & production industry as the prices are now in excess of $50.00 per barrel. My goal and expectations are to create substantial monthly revenue streams as well as rapid asset accrual for both myself and an interested investor.

My contacts and vendor alliances have remained fresh and intact and will provide for a seamless re-entry back into the production business. Towards a more rapid start-up of operations in the field, I would prefer to develop a ongoing relationship with an individual investor or an entity capable of swift movement and decision making capabilities.

Should you have an interest or questions, I would welcome you to contact me for further discussion and much more detailed information.

Thank you for your consideration,

Jerry
