Yes I do. Not only cars and heating use it, but plastics are made from oil, and just think of how many plastics we use. Perhaps I should have stated drastically reduce our reliance on oil. Although, we will run out eventually, which will stop our reliance on oil immediately.

My dad was on this repair job. You have no idea how the pipeline actually works. I’ve worked on the mainline pipe. There’s dents from hundreds of people shooting the line. It’s 1 1/4″ thick mainline pipe surrounded by insulation and jacketing. Within minutes Alyeska realized there was a leak and shut down the pipeline. No wildlife was killed, and the hole was repaired as soon as was humanly possible.

It is not developing in the ground quickly. It takes hundreds of years to make oil. Coal and diamonds are made by a similar process, so just think how long it takes to make them. Scientists estimate we will use all the oil left in the world in the next twenty years, though honestly I’m not sure if this estimation is based on level usage or an increase in usage. Either way, they figure since we started using oil, we have used half of what the world contains.
