New oil and natural gas drilling announcements from the Obama administration, which will certainly fire up the base as Obama often refers to, but possibly in the wrong direction.

Given that Republicans have already said they will not cooperate with the President as a result of his work on healthcare, will opening up a little bit of oil drilling really help his cause with the GOP?

Brazil emerges as an oil giant

While many Latin American countries have seen their oil production dip, Brazils state-controlled Petrobras — the biggest company in Brazil — is working to access the billions of barrels of crude oil that rest beneath the countrys waters over the next few years.
The companys 48,986-ton P-51 oil platform rests over a hundred miles off the coast of Brazil and is the first semisubmersible platform built entirely in Brazil. It may produce up to 180,000 barrels of oil a day.

Worldfocus correspondent Edie Magnus and producers Bryan Myers and Meghan Thompson report from Angra dos Reis, south of Rio de Janeiro, on Brazils unfolding role as oil giant.

Oil and Gas Drilling in the City Limits

On October 13, 2009 the Midland City Council held a public hearing in order to get citizen feedback on oil and gas drilling inside Midland city limits. The Midland Oil and Gas Task Force has reviewed the existing City of Midland ordinance regulating oil and gas drilling and production activities within the city limits and recently provided recommendations to the City Council. The recommendations were taken into consideration when drafting a modified ordinance to meet the goals of encouraging orderly development and growth of the city while accommodating the rights of mineral owners to reasonable access to their minerals and protecting the health, welfare, and safety of the public.

The markets are nearing a critical short term juncture.
An S&P rally above 1130 reopens potential to 1159
or even higher. An intermediate term correction (at
