ASPO.TV News – Acknowledging the Reality of Peak Oil

Posted by admin on December 2nd, 2009 and filed under oil production peak | 6 Comments »

The reality of oil depletion is undeniable. Volumes of publicly available data, collected over many decades, demonstrate that the world may have reached the point of maximum oil production. Despite the clarity of the facts and data, leaders in government, industry, and business are reluctant to articulate and address the enormous challenges that a declining oil supply will have on the world economy – and the urgent steps that should be taken to mitigate shortages of our most valuable energy source. This video features industry veterans Sadad al-Husseini, Jeremy Gilbert, Jeremy Leggett, and Chris Skrebowski, who discuss why governments and business are reluctant to face up to the realities of peak oil.

The latest video from Sustainable Earth. Includes new reports from government, the military, intelligence agencies and major NGO’s. It ends on a positive note; the reality of consequence will finally free humanity from short-term thinking.

I looked at literally dozens of reports for this short video…in the end I picked the most credible and those that summed up the prevailing thinking of the world’s best experts. Unfortunately it was impossible to include every detail; this is just an introduction to the subject. For further reading the files which make up this video are below.

PetroApocalypse Now? Trailer

Posted by admin on November 5th, 2009 and filed under world oil production | 9 Comments »

Is the oil beginning to run out? Shot over 4 years in 13 countries this film uncovers the myths surrounding the future of world oil supplies. Featuring 30 of the world’s experts on both sides of the debate, we lift the lid on the Peak Oil theory whether oil production is about to fall. We travel to the Middle East to find out how much oil they really have, exposing evidence that they may be exaggerating by up to 50%. We meet the men who believe that oil prices are about to bankrupt all of us and their evidence is terrifying: theres barely any oil left to find. We look back to the 70s, when we were first warned about this problem and we examine what can be done to prevent a global economic catastrophe. Can we escape our addiction to oil? Are we just going to deny the problem until it kills us?

Dr Colin Campbell

ECDC total[1] 154,985 917
Reports Total 161,622 1,108

If you google

“World OIL production” The first link will be to

A link to the CIA, in which they quote a 2005 number.

Oil – Production: 78.9 million bbl/day (2005 est.)

The irony here is that I used to be able to have the doe link
but it is gone now from the top 10 and is replaced with peak oil info.

But I am clever, so I will provide you with a data link:

http://www.eia.doe.gov/aer/txt/ptb1105.html

Unfortuantly, the link I am sending you contains NGL’s and heavy tar sand oil
So, if you include ALL liquids, we may not have peaked yet. I believe
Dr Colin Campbell predicts that we will hit a peak in liquid fuels by 2010.

They took down the straight crude oil statistics, which isn’t helpful.
What they did was change the category from Crude OIL, to Crude oil PLUS
lease condensate.
