    @hermangu: Moron, there was no well establish priniciples of law. Spain & Portugal conquered South America. In 1816 Argentinians seized Argentina in an act of naked agression. IN 1833, Argentina did conquer Patagonia & Tierra del Fuego until 1881.

    Hermangu and the Argentinians are complete hypocrties. Argentinans are European Colonists.

    The Falklands are as much South American as Argentinians. If SADC attacks the Malvinas they attack fellow South Americans.

    The Falklands for the Islanders.

    GWB1967,

    Even if the actual declaration of Argentinian independence was 9 years earlier- the first Argentian communities on the islands began in 1828.

    In my view therefore- such a claim on the Falkland Islands by the Argentinian government is very weak.

    The facts are that …
    The facts are that there is no way in that the UK will hand over the falklands to Argentina. They can throw their toys out the pram all they like but it will make very little difference, and the island will remain British as it should be by the rules of any democracy. Argentina’s aggression is laughable as it has nothing to back it up and is simply an attempt by the government to mask problems within the country.

  4. pete1munchen Says:

    @hermangu no doubt …
    @hermangu no doubt you are getting your information from a State High School history book. How can Argentina claim an Island 300 miles away when international waters are 12 miles out?? By that logic Britain just got bigger by owning Ireland, France, German, Holland, Belgium! Educate yourself maybe?

  5. pete1munchen Says:

    @hermangu Read a …
    @hermangu Read a book mate. Britain claimed the Island in the 17th Century and the Island were uninhabited. Argentina didn’t for till after we claimed them. Argentina has zero right to the Islands.

  6. pete1munchen Says:

    @pincharratadley I …
    @pincharratadley I have to complain again sorry, Kicked out your families? The island was uninhabited when Britain claimed the island. Britain then colonized it. Perhaps you should return Argentina to the people who colonized the land. SPAIN!

    @pincharratadley …
    @pincharratadley haha you are such an idiot! Britain claimed the island in the 17th Century! BEFORE ARGENTINA FORMED. Stand up to us again if you wish. Remember what happened last time you did! 650 dead and a major warship sent to the bottom. Argentina wouldn’t dare attempt it with 3 typhoon class submarines lurking in the area.

    In 1833 Britain seized the islands in an act of naked aggression, kick out familys and a legitim goberment from Argentina and has held them ever since.

    Mate.
    Last time around in 1982 we had only 22 Royal Marines on the Island and look what they did they shot down an attack helicopter and disabled a warship.
    Now we have more then 2:000 soldiers on the Island we can do much more.

  13. mal800 Says:

    Our 4 Eurofighters …
    Our 4 Eurofighters and 2 Royal Navy ships will be able to keep the Argies at bay for quite a long time and with a nuclear equipped submarine guarding our waters and at least another one on its way I don’t think we have much to worry about.

  14. StinkingHombre Says:

    @Tenientemani – How …
    @Tenientemani – How many British subs crossed the equator today on the way to their Southern Atlantic killing zones?

    @Tenientemani – Uncle Alf was not a terrorist, he was the Chancellor of Germany and Democratically elected at that.

    @lurcherlink You’re a 44 year old boy sir, calling the Argentinian people stupid , theres always some shithead like this one who gives bad names to the rest

  17. Tenientemani Says:

    @StinkingHombre it …
    @StinkingHombre it wouldnt get t the point of homeland breaches, because of all the terrorism that could spring on both sides like London or Buenos Aires

    Like hitler did b4 the start of the war, he softened up a couple of countries with terrorism

    @Aerodramatics Our …
    @Aerodramatics Our Air Force did most of the significant damage to the supplier ships and destroyer , w.e right, but our army had like 20 thousand conscripts from the dictatorship, and some thousand army regulars, dont know much about our navy except for the Belgrano carrier

    But, your politic guys cheaped out on the destroyers paint and the sailors didn’t have much protection against the fires after the exocet hit

  19. hermangu Says:

    The Spanish claim …
    The Spanish claim was inherited by
    Argentina by well established principles of
    international law, since the Falklands were in the same administrative division as Argentina. Argentina took steps to ensure sovereignty, including the colonization of the
    islands and the appointment of a governor.

    In 1833 Britain seized the islands in an act of naked aggression and has held them ever since.

    Las Malvinas for Argentinians.

  20. hermangu Says:

    Would you ask your …
    Would you ask your wife/ partner if they still wanted to be with you if your relationship was doing well? NO, you would only ask if there are some problems…The same thing with the referendum if everyone were happy with the Enlgish this referendum wouldn’t even be asked for.

    Tea the most popular drink in Scotland?. Oooo please, you wouldn’t think so walking round the capital on a friday night!

    You british don’t even care about the islands you only care about oil. It’s stolen land!

  21. PhiloTheSceptic Says:

    What are you …
    What are you talking about? You do realise tea is the most popular drink in Scotland, right?

    Also, you are an idiot. That quote clearly states ‘SUPPORT FOR THE UNION OUTSTRIPS INDEPENDENCE FROM THE UK.’

    That clearly supports my point, thank you for proving yourself wrong.

    Of course most people support a referendum on independence – I support one. What’s wrong with asking people their opinions? It’s the British thing to do, unlike in Argentina where they don’t care what the islanders think!

  22. hermangu Says:

    Yes you are a “Real …
    Yes you are a “Real Scotsman” …. you probably drink “Earl Grey tea” with your friends from across the border.

    Quote:

    “An recent opinion poll commissioned by BBC Scotland has shown a clear majority (58%) of Scots want a referendum on independence next year. *2010)

    The poll also suggests support for the Union outstrips that for independence from the UK.”

    I can see you are “Real Scotsman” …. now go and enjoy a nice warm cup of Earl Grey Tea.

  23. PhiloTheSceptic Says:

    Andy Murray is a …
    Andy Murray is a tennis player… What has he got to do with anything? He is entitled to his own opinion.

    You see, in Scotland, like in the rest of the UK, we love our freedom and our liberty. Unlike in Argentina where they have a sham democracy and have lived under dictatorship in recent memory.

    A REAL Scotsman is one who speaks their own opinion and doesn’t bend to the will of their nation or government.

    A REAL Englishman, Irishman and Welshman does the same! We are not blind like Argentina

  24. PhiloTheSceptic Says:

    You have no idea …
    You have no idea what any real Scotsman would do. I have lived here all my life, in the scottish CAPITAL.

    I am a lawyer, who has studies SCOTS law.

    My family dates back to the middle ages, all living in SCOTLAND.

    How dare you tell me what I am and am not.

    The fact is, Scotland and England entered a UNION OF EQUAL PARTNERS IN 1707.

    Stop trying to throw dissent on my great nation of the UK! The UK is a solid and great nation that will defend its people and land at home and in the Falklands!

  25. Aerodramatics Says:

    @GwB1967AR: Do not …
    @GwB1967AR: Do not be too offended. 4000 Argentinian volunteers fought against the Nazis and help win. The world owes these brave people a debt of thanks for a free Europe and Asia.

    In 1982 the Argentinian Air Force fought brilliantly and did well. Your boys were too young to fight our professional soldiers.

    Our countries should never war again, but find peaceful ways to resolve this issue.
