how would decreasing oil production affect our world socially, economically, politically, and enviromentally?

it is for a project and im not sure how what to write

The answer to this question depends on many variables. One variable is whether the decrease in production is an intentional choice by the companies or countries producing it or a result of a dwindling world supply. If OPEC chooses to cut production in order to increase prices then the rest of the world will have to make some tough choices.
(1). Accept the increased gas prices.
(2). Demand that their government enact legislation that makes it cost effective for oil companies to build more local refineries to lower fuel costs.
(3). Require governments to invest more in alternative energy sources.
(4). Pressure OPEC countries through sanctions to increase production.
(5). Lower environmental standards to allow more local drilling.
(6). Sacrifice some individuality and use more public transport.
There are of course other options and it may require a combination of many options to deal with the economic and political fallout incurred by each choice.

If the decrease in production were due to diminished supply then some of the above options still apply. Sacrifices will have to be made but will only be acceptable if our governments can show us that they are not without a purpose. I personally don’t want to pay an ever increasing percentage of my income for fuel to travel back and forth to work while at the same time watching the government taking increasingly large chunks of my income in taxes.

The outcome of the worlds reaction to decreasing supplies of easily accessible energy will be dependent on educating people to the options. If we blindly follow the rhetoric of the outspoken without listening to opposing views and searching out the truth we will be slaves to the greedy and the ignorant.
